In previous blogs, we have talked about nurses using Kronos 4500 terminals. One of the common tasks nurses need to complete at the 4500 terminal is a transfer. When this occurs, much like any other transaction at the terminal, the nurse should be responsible for ensuring that the transfer was recorded, and if not, responsible for reporting the error.
More than likely, if you train your nurses on the Kronos 4500 Clock in this manner, they will follow your lead!
As with recording punches, the 4500 terminal will give the user feedback, noting if a task was successful or not. The terminal also allows for different ways to enter information. When recording a transfer, the first step is to request the specific type of action. This is generally done by pressing the blue soft key next to the desired task. Next, you access the terminal. This can be done by swiping a badge, waving a badge in front of the terminal, or by typing your badge number. Once the terminal recognizes the user, the task begins. When recording a transfer, users have two choices, they can scroll through a list of departments and select the appropriate one, or they can simply type in the department number.
Either way, the user should take an extra moment to ensure they have selected the appropriate department.
Once the user hit the enter key, the transfer is recorded. The transfer shows on the screen and the user hears a beep. At this point, the user should verify the entry was correct. If there was an error, the user should note the error number and message that displays on the screen and report this to their manager immediately. This way, the manager can record the transfer into the nurses timecard, then go about solving the issue with the terminal. That’s it. By taking the time to train nurses on this process, they will record their transfers with fewer errors, meaning less time editing time-cards for their managers...isn't that benefit enough?
