6 Ways to Reimagine Dimensions Attestation

Comfort zones rarely go down without a fight. We like what we like — our systems, our paper trails, and our workarounds — because they've become comfortable.

Even if a change is positive, such as migrating to Workforce Dimensions, Kronos' next-gen WFM software, it's natural to wrestle with the differences between old and new.

Since Attestation is now a built-in part of WFD, the new architecture has some users missing the configuration flexibility they used to have in WFC.

Don't panic just yet. If IT work has taught us anything in nearly 30 years, it's that there's more than one path you can take to reach a destination.

Here are just a few best practices we’ve adopted to better facilitate Dimensions Attestation changes over the past two years.

6 Approaches to WFD Attestation 

  1. Focus on gains. The gains Dimensions offers for most any workforce is undeniable. Couple its mobile interface, embedded analytics, API, and data integration capability, and it’s unlike any WFM software available. We’ve learned if you focus the mind shift here, the migration will stay on course. While you can't duplicate WFC functionality, you can still do a lot with Dimensions Attestation. It’s simply different than what you may be used to in WFC.

  2. Be proactive. We let our clients know ahead of time modules such as Attestation (or another function) won’t be a 1:1 migration from WFC to Dimensions. And that's okay. It's a small deficit compared to the efficiency gains Dimensions brings to a workflow. This is not a surprise. Kronos stated early on that 70% of the average WFC configuration can be migrated. That leaves 30% of the migration open for new solutions (at this point).

  3. Replicate where possible. As much as possible, we replicate the Attestation flexibility of WFC for Dimensions clients. For instance, meal breaks, per state, can still be configured as can fixing missed punches.

  4. Answer key questions. With any Kronos implementation, answering the right questions early on, will produce the better solution.  A few questions we've found helpful:

    • What business processes will migration impact?

    • Who are the people affected at the manager level?

    • How much training will be needed to adjust the process?

    • Who does this notification get sent to?

  5. Reimagine the process. If clients rely heavily on Attestation for Timekeeping in WFC, we take a closer look at internal processes and business goals. From there, we suggest ways to reimagine different paths to get to the same outcome.

  6. Plan for additional training. It's a good idea to plan for  additional training for Kronos admins to allow the shift to Dimensions Attestation to go as smoothly as possible.

Anticipate a learning curve when moving from WFC to Dimensions — it's an entirely new platform. However, with the right implementation team and training plan, the immediate boost to your workforce will be worth it.
