3 WFC Scheduling Tools that Can Give You a Retention Edge

3 WFC Scheduling Tools that Can Give You a Retention Edge

Recruitment and retention are more brutal than ever these days. But what if you had a few tools in your arsenal that could help you gain valuable ground with employees and potential hires?

Balance or Bust

The recent HR in the Age of Workplace Uncertainty report confirms that retaining talent is a priority for organizations citing that 54 percent of employers report a higher turnover than before the pandemic and just 8 percent report a decrease. The main issues plaguing employees? The challenges of remote work, burnout, exhaustion, and the lack of a healthy work-life balance.

Be it healthcare, manufacturing, retail, public sector, or any industry scrambling to hire, the good news for UKG users is that your technology can help you address at least some of the retention stress.

If your workforce is built on Workforce Central, Workforce Ready, or Workforce Dimensions, three scheduling tools can help meet employee expectations and strengthen workforce outcomes.

Employee Self-Service

What's more personal than someone's work schedule? The ability to have hands-on input into one’s work schedule isn’t just an employee perk anymore, and it’s an expectation. Employee self-service allows staff members to have input into their schedule by boosting mobile capabilities.

Employees can ask for time off, shift swap, open shifts, request to cover, and update availability, all from their own mobile devices. Self-service gives employees the tools to have more control over scheduling, an essential factor in achieving a better work-life balance.

Automated Rules

You can craft the best schedule in the world, but if it's not compliant with state, federal, or union laws, you may end up in hot water—with the law and with employees. There's nothing worse than paycheck mistakes or getting paid late. Properly configured and automated Pay Rules in WFC Scheduler and Advanced Scheduler modules can be configured to reflect shift requirements.

For example, if an employee works at least six hours, they must take a 30-minute meal break. A manager can apply as many Rules as needed, which gives them dozens of ways to increase compliance and efficiency—and employee happiness. Also, automated Work and Pay Rules allow managers to comply with state and federal legislation, union policies and establish schedule patterns that reduce employee burnout. A little flexibility each day keeps turnover away.

Workforce Analytics

When optimized, WFC and WFD Workforce Analytics can make a significant impact on your scheduling culture. By leveraging the Workforce Analytics tool, managers can quickly identify scheduling gaps and inefficiencies, overtime creep, employee fatigue, and spot inequitable scheduling trends impacting morale.

Notice a spike in labor costs? Analytics can show you where unplanned overtime or time theft might be an issue. In addition, this functionality can help a manager compare actual hours to scheduled hours and any variances, which will help refine scheduling approaches, equity and help you stay compliant.

Efficient, equitable scheduling keeps employees happy and is a task that every manager can improve with proper training. When scheduling practices are people-focused, mobile, and automated you may see a spike in your workflow efficiency.
